Gesture drawing is laying in the action, form, and pose of the figure, and is essential in figure drawing.  Class will consist of mostly very short poses.  Students bring their own supplies; plenty of paper 16”x20” or 18”x24”; vine charcoals, kneaded eraser, hard eraser, pencils/charcoals/or Conté crayons.

Composition in Art

Learn how to bring your art to the next level with a compelling composition!

4 week series via Zoom

 

This series dives into the elements of composition so you'll fully understand how to plan out works to be more engaging and aesthetically pleasing!  We'll learn how to create balance, movement, and rhythm. You'll learn ways to create emphasis and unity and how to embrace concepts like the rule of thirds.  After this series you'll be able to take the same elements of your art and simply arrange them using these principles to instantly create a much stronger work.  

 

And the beauty of learning composition?  It can be used for any 2D medium: drawing, painting, photography, digital work, printmaking, and more!

 

4 week series

Zoom Watercolor Workshop!

Beyond the Frame

 

In this 3-hour workshop we will create fun and unique watercolor paintings utilizing multiple techniques including negative space layering. You'll come out of the class with new knowledge, inspiration, and multiple paintings to enjoy!

Figure Drawing

Open Studio Day

 

Sit back with chill tunes while you forget about your troubles and just draw.  Working from a live nude model, figure drawing is widely regarded as the best form of drawing practice.  Every session is relaxing, exciting, fun, and challenging. This series reveals the approach to drawing that can help you draw literally anything you see.  Through the dispelling of mental blocks, and the building up of right-brain skills, students will realize they can draw more than they thought and enjoy the process!

Beginner to intermediate, this series is perfect for someone who has never drawn, and for artists looking to strengthen their fundamental skills.

In figure drawing, the gesture is the essence of the pose and is more felt than seen.  Detail is nothing without a good gesture.  This often overlooked concept is essential when drawing the figure.  This workshop will break it down using presentations, demos, and practice from a live, nude, model.

  • Gather your friends, your kids, or your parents and all create art together!    Your friends/family can be in the same home or in many different homes all on Zoom.

  • 6-12 people = $135 per class, or 5 lessons for $600.

Capturing the Portrait

2-Day Workshop

Students learn proportions, skull form, the break-down of each feature (eyes, nose, mouth, ears, hair) and how to gesture a portrait.  This class dispels common fallacies of drawing the portrait, and gives tips to capture a likeness.

Sketchbooking: Expanding Your Creativity

Following our curiosity and intuition, we will playfully explore the joys of creating within a sketchbook through exercises to get those creative juices flowing, and experimentation.
