The Panama City Center for the Arts will host a special solo exhibition in the Main Gallery for artist Heather Clements entitled, “We Are Nature.” The opening reception will include a book-release for the artist's new book of the same title, will be Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 6 to 9pm. The exhibit will feature Heather's work from the past three years, including drawings, oil paintings, and most predominantly thirty pieces from her most recent watercolor series. The exhibit of artwork, prints, and books will run from May 12th until July 12th. These works will all be for sale. There will be an Artist Talk, Q&A, and Book Signing on Friday, June 1st from 5 to 7pm.

Heather's watercolors in her “Blooming” series are a surge of vibrant, explosive abstractions, juxtaposed with her signature tight realistic portraits. The saturated colors speak of the passion and vitality of Heather's positive environmental themes. Bursting with many different species of flowers, the women in these portraits are a symbol of a hopeful symbiotic relationship between humans and nature.

Exuberant women burst with colorful pedals, sometimes so overwhelming with zest that the paint literally drips from them. These portraits of strong women are blooming with life, and they are blooming with symbiotic euphoria. The artist's voice has never seemed so joyous and authentic as in this most recent watercolor series.

Art has defined Heather Clements's life from the beginning. Heather grew up near Washington, D.C., and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. Moving to Northwest Florida after college, Heather continued to create art, or art atmospheres for the past decade. Heather owned the art gallery, Gallery Above, then worked as Exhibitions Manager at the Visual Arts Center of Northwest Florida before deciding to dedicate her full-time work to the creation of art. Heather's often award-winning artwork has displayed regionally and nationally, while locally she teaches an array of art classes. CityArts Cooperative and its Fringe Gallery serve as a home-base for Heather's art and classes in Panama City, Florida. Always drawing inspiration from the human figure, Heather's art mixes tight realistic portraiture with rich metaphors, as she perpetually creates and shares beauty with meaning.

The opening reception on May 12th will offer finger-foods and light refreshments. Heather's new book, “We Are Nature” will have its grand release during the opening as well. It will feature a condensed biography, artist statements on different series' of art, and dozens of vibrant printed images of her artwork and art details. Between May 12th and July 12th visitors will be able to purchase original art, books, and giclee prints and on June 1st from 5-7pm Heather will give an in-depth artist talk with Q&A before signing books. “We Are Nature” will be on display at the Panama City Center for the Arts Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10am-5pm from May 12th until July 12th, 2018.
