Unexpected Growth - print

Unexpected Growth - print

This was the first in my fungus series. I love how fungus thrives in parts of the forest we think can't support life anymore.  Just when we feel at our lowest points and we feel incapable of functioning, something small and positive starts to grow in unexpected ways.  She may have struggled, but it is through those struggles she grows and becomes more empathic, more wise, more human.

The original of this lady was created with powdered graphite, graphite, and watercolor, 18"x24".  The figure is rendered in detail, from fly-away hairs to tiny toe wrinkles.  The fungi and leaves are created in watercolor, as they spring to life out of her.

She's sure to bring hope, confidence, and nature into your home.
