Pull Me Apart • The Books

Pull Me Apart Volume 2 Now Available for Pre-Order

My first interactive book has had an amazing journey.  All of the book sales, climbing online attention, and innumerable responses of people feeling truly connected to these works, proved something very important to me:

The art we make most for ourselves can be what connects the most with others.

It gave me ultimate permission to create art from my inner-most weirdo.

Pull Me Apart Volume 2 dives deeper in every way.

The paper engineering gets a little more complex.  The artwork gets more detailed, more thoughtfully designed, with more attention paid to backgrounds.  In my first interactive sketchbook, I was often so excited about the concepts and mechanisms that sometimes the painting part happened so quickly.  But for the artwork for my second book, I slowed down and allowed myself the time to create each stage of the reveal to be able to work as a piece of art all its own.

I am beyond proud of every on of these interactive works of art.  Now you can pull me apart even further.  I invite you into my weird little world of emotional unraveling and renewal through Pull Me Apart Volume 2.

Pull Me Apart - the interactive book

The first 'Pull Me Apart' began as a personal sketchbook.

An avid sketchbooker since I was 16, I decided instead of my normal anything-goes approach that I would dedicate a book entirely to combining paper-cutting and watercolor.  Somehow I had the idea of mushrooms bursting out of a portrait's eyes- with movement... I was hooked. I had been making art for decades, but now it can MOVE.

One interactive idea lead to another and another.

Even though I was already making art full time, this was a personal project I would obsess over on the weekends with childlike joy.  On a whim I decided to share a video on social media.  The response was BIG and enthusiastic, with countless requests to buy a copy.  Initially I thought this laughably impossible- how could you publish a book with so many moving elements?  Then came Rosston of Poposition Press.  He publishes popup books filled with art by contemporary artists.  Eventually my first interactive book, 'Pull Me Apart,' was born.

Pull Me Apart is a nature-inspired interactive book where you can change and discover the artwork hidden behind pull tabs, flaps, spin-wheels, and more!

*The 1st and 2nd Editions of Pull Me Apart have sold out- yay!  A 3rd Edition is currently being printed and should be available in August.  Click above to pre-order!
